Team - Homeless Accommodation Team
Role
Bury Council is seeking to recruit two Homeless Accommodation MoveOn Officers to join our Homeless Accommodation Team on a fixed term for 12months. These roles are fundamental to supporting the Council’s statutory duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act and to delivering our wider ambition to prevent and reduce homelessness by enabling residents to secure sustainable housing solutions.
Working within a committed and supportive team, you will provide practical, personcentred support to individuals and families living in temporary accommodation, helping them to move on into suitable longterm housing. The role is varied and rewarding and requires flexibility, resilience, and a strong focus on customer need.
You will support households by developing and progressing moveon plans, identifying needs and addressing barriers such as employment and training opportunities, budgeting support and maximisation of benefits and actively exploring suitable housing options. This will involve close collaborative working with internal services and a wide range of external partners, including supported accommodation providers, the private rented sector, and other statutory and voluntary agencies, with the aim of reducing reliance on temporary accommodation. You will report to the Senior Homeless Accommodation Officer, working under the direction of the relevant line manager, and will play an important role in ensuring positive housing outcomes are achieved in a timely and effective manner.
The post requires the ability to travel both within and outside the borough, as necessary, to meet service objectives and support households into appropriate accommodation.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
