The Role
The Home Improvement Agency (HIA) are seeking a proactive and highly organised grants Technical Officer to ensure grant applications are processed quickly and works carried out efficiently and to a good standard. The HIA utilises grant funding to provide aids and adaptions to resident’s homes across the Borough as well as a variety of discretionary loans. We are transforming our services so that we can be truly innovative and responsive, ensuring that our residents can thrive in safe, accessible homes. Having increased the team, we have several opportunities to shape new services, influence best practice, and make a meaningful impact on the quality, safety and sustainability of homes for Bromley residents.
About You
We are looking for a confident, skilled HIA professional with strong sector knowledge who will bring:
• Experience of grants, adaptations and knowledge of grants legislation and good understanding of HIA schemes
• Proven experience delivering construction-based adaptation works, including complex adaptations and extensions
• Able to inspect, survey and measure properties, identifying required works and translating OT recommendations into practical solutions
• Skilled in designing and specifying works, including drawings and schedules of works/ specifications
• Confident in managing works on site, overseeing contractors and signing off completed works where appropriate to do so

An empathetic, customer focused professional, able to work effectively with vulnerable residents and build strong relationships with occupational therapists

Sound working knowledge of building regulations and experience of planning applications

Well organised with good communications, IT and record keeping skills
