The London Borough of Bromley is seeking a Rough Sleeper Navigator to provide a compassionate and supportive service to rough sleepers to increase their engagement with the rough sleeper pathway to prevent them from losing accommodation and returning to rough sleeping.  

Reporting to the Rough Sleeper Co-ordinator you work as part of  the Rough Sleeping Team to manage the homelessness, support and resettlement casework for single homeless including rough sleepers in line with Housing Act 1996, as amended by the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and Homelessness Code of Guidance. 

Key responsibilities 

Assist the Single Homelessness Pathway Team with administrative tasks including data inputting.   

Provide advice, information, and support to vulnerable residents, who approach the Council’s Housing Options and Support Service in need of help and support with their housing, assisting to prevent or relieve their homelessness and sustaining tenancies. 

To ensure that accommodation-based support is being utilised and is being provided to all relevant clients.  

 

To provide advice and early intervention to prevent and relieve homelessness; maximise access and utilisation of available housing options and solutions which meet the needs of the customer and minimise the need for temporary accommodation. 

Drive continuous improvement, performance management and value for money across the service. 

Bring strong partnerships with members, internal teams, health partners, registered providers, voluntary organisations, probation, social care and other stakeholders. 

Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity and service excellence. 

About You 

You will be a collaborative and creditable officer with excellent administration and communication skills and an understanding of homelessness within a local authority or similar complex organisation.  You will bring: - 

Extensive knowledge and experience, across housing. 

An understanding of housing legislation, regulation and current national policy. 

Proven ability to operate in a political environment and provide clear advice to applicants. 

Excellent administration and communication and performance management skills. 

Strong collaborative, communication and partnership-working capabilities.
