Homelessness Prevention Visiting Officer 

Grade: BR 10-12 £40,352- £46,952 per annum) 

Permanent, Full-time (36 hours per week) 

The London Borough of Bromley is seeking a Homelessness Prevention Visiting Officer to manage a caseload within our Triage & Prevention Services and to play a key role in shaping the Council’s approach to homelessness. 

Reporting to the Team Manager Triage & Prevention you will work as part of the Triage & Prevention Service carry out home visits for those at risk of homelessness.  You will ensure services are high-performing, financially sustainable and focused on delivering positive outcomes for Bromley residents. 

Key responsibilities 

To manage a complex and demanding caseload in a busy and front-line pressurised service routinely undertakes home visits for those at risk of homelessness to fully understand the situation and be able to provide innovative and tailored options to prevent homelessness through the provision of advice, advocacy, negotiation and mediation to avoid the need for temporary accommodation. 

To undertake home visits to verify households’ circumstances and establish occupancy and ensure that those who the council has secured temporary accommodation for are residing at the temporary accommodation as their main residence. 

To always perform responsibilities with a customer service and performance management focus. 

Provide confident, professional advice to applicants on homelessness related matters. 

Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity and service excellence. 

About You 

You will be a collaborative and creditable officer with substantial experience in homelessness within a local authority or similar complex organisation successful at demonstrating successful outcomes to intervene earlier and prevent homelessness and for the need for temporary accommodation.  You will bring: - 

Extensive knowledge and experience, across housing. 

A strong understanding of housing legislation, regulation and current national policy. 

Proven ability to operate in a political environment and provide clear advice to applicants. 

Strong collaborativecommunication and partnership-working capabilities.
