About the Role
At Bromley, we are committed to providing more Bromley homes for Bromley people and delivering services that support the wellbeing of our residents. We are seeking a reliable, proactive Grounds Maintenance Operative to help maintain the safety, cleanliness and overall presentation of our temporary accommodation and leased housing portfolio. This mobile role covers residential sites and plays a vital part in ensuring our communal areas and outdoor spaces are well‑maintained, safe, and welcoming for residents.
You will assist Bromley Homes on the ground keeping communal areas clear, identifying hazards, escalating repairs, and supporting essential safety checks. You will also play an important role in void property clearance and turnaround, helping ensure homes are ready for new tenants as quickly as possible. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone with strong practical skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining safe and pleasant living environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain communal gardens, grounds and outdoor spaces to a high standard
• Ensure communal areas remain clean, tidy, and free from hazards carry out routine fire safety compliance checks, including Fire door checks, communal escape route inspections, reporting concerns promptly
• Assist with void property clearance and preparation for re‑let
• Report and escalate repairs, health & safety issues, and maintenance concerns
• Support basic property upkeep and minor maintenance tasks where appropriate
• Provide a visible, approachable presence across sites, supporting resident satisfaction
About You
We are looking for a practical, reliable individual with a strong sense of responsibility and pride in their work. You will bring:
• Hands‑on experience in grounds maintenance or property upkeep
• Ability to work independently, manage your workload, and use your initiative
• Good communication and customer service skills with a calm, approachable nature
• Basic understanding of health & safety, fire safety and building compliance
• Experience working in social housing, residential, or communal settings (desirable)
• Basic horticultural or maintenance qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
