Fostering is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference to a child's future. Whether you're supporting a young child, a teenager, siblings or a child with additional needs, you can help provide the stability, encouragement and care they need to thrive.

As a foster carer, you'll play a key role in helping children feel safe, build confidence, achieve at school and develop positive relationships, all while being supported by an experienced team of professionals.

Fostering can be temporary or long-term, depending on a child's needs.

Who Can Foster?

You don't need any formal qualifications or previous fostering experience to become a foster carer.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life. You may be single, married, retired, employed, self-employed, a homeowner or renting your home.

To foster, you will need to:

  • Be aged 21 or over
  • Have a spare bedroom
  • Be able to provide a safe and supportive home
  • Have the time, commitment and patience to support a child or young person

Specialist Opportunity: Encompass Therapeutic Fostering

We are also recruiting for Encompass Therapeutic Fostering, Bromley's specialist fostering service for children and young people with more complex needs, including those moving from residential care into a family setting. Encompass follows a therapeutic, family-based approach and provides enhanced training, tailored support and a dedicated professional network around both the child and fostering household.

This opportunity may be particularly suitable for experienced foster carers or individuals with relevant professional or lived experience in childcare, education, youth work, health or social care.
