We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker in the Children’s Disability Team (CDT).

 

About the Team

The CDT is a dynamic team who is committed to supporting disabled children.

The team supports families with children aged 0 - 18 who have a severe, profound or complex disability that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on them, this includes children and young people with severe learning and/or physical disabilities, Autism Spectrum Condition, complex health issues, and severe hearing, vision and communication difficulties. The team also provides short breaks for children who are eligible.

The team carries out safeguarding, assessments, court work, duty and works with looked after children to achieve permanency. The team adhere to statutory procedures and timescales.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be a Social Work England Registered social worker with a good breadth of knowledge of social care processes and procedures.

The successful candidate will work with children who have severe and profound disability and critical health needs.  You will therefore need to be good at communication (both verbal and written), be able to carry out direct work with children and families and be able to advocate for children.  We are committed to anti-oppressive practice, inclusion and diversity.

You will need an understanding of child development and family functioning and the successful candidate will carry out complex child and family assessments and be able to make clear recommendations. 

You will report to the Team Manager Children’s Disability Service, you will be part of a busy team delivering a high level of social work support to children and families. Your priority will be ensuring the safety and well-being of the children we work with.  You will work closely with Education and Health, and colleagues in other children’s teams.

 

The successful candidate will be joining an ambitious service with strong leadership and clear lines of support. As part of the Bromley Promise there will be a dedicated two-week induction programme upon joining us and you will also work in a small cluster team containing just 5 and Social Workers/Seniors and 1 social work assistant and one Team Manager. You will have dedicated time set aside for quality reflective supervision.
