Senior Project Manager (Construction)
Bristol City Council
Full Time, 12 Months Fixed Term
The Senior Project Manager (Construction) role sits within the council’s Portfolios, Programmes and Projects (PPP) Service — a well‑established function that delivers transformation, change and capital construction projects across the whole organisation.
This role would have the opportunity to lead on one or more major capital projects. Current examples that other team members are delivering include building new schools, expanding foster carer properties, refurbishing children’s homes, decarbonising the city’s crematoria, new pontoons for the harbour, bridge repair projects, amongst others. The portfolio is wide and varied, but every project contributes to better public services, stronger infrastructure and improved outcomes for people and communities across Bristol.
It is a particularly exciting time to join us. Following significant growth in the team, we are strengthening our professional construction function and embedding consistently high standards across our projects.
You will play a pivotal role in this next phase — leading project teams, applying best practice and helping to ensure complex construction projects are delivered consistently and effectively.
You will bring significant experience in leading large construction projects, with robust project management and technical capability. This should include a strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and site‑based delivery practices — ensuring compliance, safety and effective coordination with contractors, designers and internal teams.
We welcome applications from those ready to take a significant step in their career, combining leadership, commercial judgement and technical expertise within a well‑resourced and high‑profile programme.
