Technical Manager - Accessible Homes

Help us deliver home adaptations that enable people to live safely and independently.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join Bristol City Council’s Accessible Homes and TEC Hub.

We are Bristol’s cross-tenure service, helping people to live safely, confidently and independently in their own homes. We are a friendly, progressive and multidisciplinary team, providing preventative and proactive solutions ranging from simple equipment to highly complex home adaptations.

Working alongside another Technical Manager, you’ll jointly lead and develop our team of technical professionals, delivering adaptations across public and private sector homes. You’ll provide expert technical advice, support the team with complex cases and ensure adaptations are delivered safely to a high standard and provide value for money.

You’ll oversee technical standards, contractor performance, quality assurance, risk and service performance, while supporting the effective delivery of the adaptations programme and budget.

Collaboration is central to the role. You’ll work closely with caseworkers, occupational therapists and occupational therapy aides, as well as colleagues across Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and the wider Housing directorate, helping us deliver a joined-up service that keeps residents at the heart of our decisions.

About you

You’ll bring:

• Strong construction, building, surveying, housing or property expertise.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing technical staff.
• Strong knowledge of construction standards, compliance and health and safety.
• Experience of managing contractors, quality and performance.
• Excellent judgement, communication and partnership-working skills.
• A commitment to inclusive leadership, excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
  
  

Experience of home adaptations or accessible housing would be an advantage, but we welcome individuals with strong transferable technical and leadership experience.
