Highway Drainage Inspector
Bristol City Council
Full Time, Fixed Term initially until 31st December 2027.
We are looking for an individual for this role within the Strategic Highways Maintenance Team. The position is to assist with the capturing of highway drainage asset data as part of a wider project, ensuring that assets are accurately plotted and features recorded correctly.
As a team we are responsible for the delivery of planned maintenance work across Bristol, including road resurfacing, patching work, road markings, highway drainage, winter maintenance, and preventative maintenance including surface dressing, micro asphalt, and footway slurry seal.
The post would suit an individual who has good communication and numerical skills, enjoys working outdoors, can work with maps, and is proficient using IT and mobile devices. We will offer training and mentoring, so it is much about your commitment, attitude and current abilities.
The role involves working out in the field, sometimes in inclement weather. It will often involve working on your own, so self-motivation is key. You will need to make your own way to site, whether by bike, public transport or car. Should you use your own vehicle, then BCC will pay business milage and provide a parking pass. Flexi-time and flexible working apply to this role.
Please be mindful that we can only progress applicants who show that they meet the requirements of the Essential Criteria as set out in the Person Specification. That can be in the way of transferable skills, and we will make an allowance for those who haven’t worked in this work area before.
