Location: Based at the Care Experienced Hub 7a, Orange Street, BS2 9HG (Bristol City Centre).
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an engagement worker to join the Care Experienced Hub, based in the city centre we support children and young people throughout their journey in care and as care leavers. There are five teams dedicated to supporting young people aged 16‑25 who are leaving care.
The role is based at the Care Experienced Hub, which offers a safe and nurturing environment for care experienced adult to access the services they need, build skills, make connections and socialise.
The Care experienced hub is a dynamic and lively environment. As the first point of contact you will need to be ready to engage and respond to care experienced young adults with a variety of needs. Days will be fast paced and varied, you could be running a cooking skills session at lunch time, supporting a care leaver complete a housing application in the afternoon, and supporting with a participation event in the evening.
You will develop and run workshops, groups and events to help build independence skills, such as budgeting, practical life skills and tenancy management. You will also have opportunities to become involved in projects and areas of interest.
You will work alongside and link with partner organisations who work from the Hub to deliver services.
There may also be the opportunity to work directly with care leavers on planned, specific pieces of work alongside their personal adviser.
You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to form and maintain relationships with young people quickly, as well as complete detailed recording and plan work with other professionals.
The Hub is open for advice from 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30- 4:30 pm Friday. In addition, we run evening session up to 8pm, so flexibility in hours will be essential.
