Recovery Coordinator
Bristol City Council
Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st March 2028.
The Substance Use Support Team (SUST) is now in its sixth year of working with individuals experiencing multiple disadvantages to support their engagement with drug and alcohol service and to help them maintain their accommodation.
You will be working with people experiencing complex challenges who have a history of rough sleeping and homelessness, in a variety of accommodation types, who require additional support to access or engage with drug and alcohol services. You will be able to manage challenges, adapt approaches to engagement as needed, communicate clearly with others and support positive change.
Working closely with Horizons Bristol (Drug and Alcohol Services), a variety of housing providers, Adult Social Care, health care providers and a range of allied services you will ensure that appropriate support and treatment is wrapped around the client to help them reach their goals. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively with others will be key to the smooth running and successful delivery of this service.
As part of the teams Trauma Informed Recovery Pathway, you will be working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma to prepare and co-ordinate admission to detox and residential rehab placements.
The post would suit someone who has significant experience of working with this client group, a good understanding of drug and alcohol interventions, harm reduction approaches and the ability to support people through change. You will need to be able to work independently across the city, applying a holistic and proactive approach to support clients through a wide variety of challenges they may experience. You will work collaboratively with housing and homelessness services to support clients accessing appropriate move-on options.
You will have the opportunity to present ideas and feedback from the frontline to support the development of the project, as well as being able to contribute to the development of a team environment that encourages growth, mutual support and best practice. You have the potential to bring about change for some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in Bristol.
Please note that an Enhanced DBS check will take place as part of the recruitment process.
