Museum Events Assistant
Bristol City Council
Permanent, Part Time 16.5 hours per week. This role is mostly evening work (5pm until late) but there is an expectation that some week and weekend days will be required. You will work mainly at M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery but our other museum venues across the city will be hosting events. This role is paid pro rata at 16.5 hours per week.
We are looking for a Museum Events Assistant to work in our private hire events team across our five museums including M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. If you enjoy delivering great customer service and love supporting events then read on.
We are focusing on increasing our income for running private and ticketed events at our museums. To do this we need to provide excellent customer service by helping people enjoy their event at our museums, ensure the safe running of the event, giving the client any support they need and ensuring our collection of over 2 million objects remain well looked after. We are currently looking to introduce new events around our current offer and you will be key to ensuring these new ventures succeed, as well as working to support our public events programme.
Our private events team consists of four permanent staff on a rota- this is the role available and a casual team supporting as extra help is required. We work closely with our venue partner who manage all aspects of the catering on the night with you helping to prepare the venue, support contractors and other staff, and unlock/lock our venues. In the coming months we will be incredibly busy hosting events all nights of the week along with some early mornings and daytimes including weekends.
Are you ready to be a hands on team member who enjoys delivering events of all kinds?
If you think you can help us make a difference then I'd encourage you to apply, and we are looking for the right person to start straight away so training can be completed over the summer before things get busy for the winter season.
Your work will contribute to supporting the museum service which is over 100 years old. We think it's special and hope you do too.
