This position is open to officer and/or home working. When service needs arise, you will be expected to work in City Hall as required.

Bristol City Council is seeking two Senior Application Support Officers. There are two separate posts available. One role will focus on Revenues and the other on Benefits. Please specify in your application whether you are applying for the Revenues or Benefits post. The roles are responsible for providing reliable, effective application support for the core systems used within the Revenues and Benefits service areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced application support professional’s looking to take the next step into a supervisory role within a large and complex organisation, supporting high-profile services that make a real difference to Bristol’s communities.

Reporting to the Application Support Lead, you will supervise a team of Application Support Officers and Assistants, overseeing the day‑to‑day management of incidents and service requests. You will act as a subject matter expert for Revenues or Benefits, supporting critical processes across Council Tax, Business Rates, Bristol Improvement Districts billing and recovery or Council Tax Reduction and Housing Benefit.

You will be highly motivated and organised, as you will be juggling many demands on your time to meet tight deadlines. This position will be a great opportunity to further develop your coaching and mentoring skills as you support team members with the more complex incident resolution.

You will assist in planning and lead on implementing change for Revenues or Benefits applications, enhancements, upgrades and testing, and work closely with suppliers and business stakeholders to minimise service disruption and drive continuous improvement.

You will work as part of a supportive, collaborative team and bring proven experience of working accurately when handling detailed and sensitive information.

Please note some out of hours working (mainly weekends) throughout the year is expected for these posts.
