Senior Application Support Officer

Bristol City Council

City Hall College Green City Centre Bristol BS1 5TRBG12: £42,839 - £46,142Full time37Closes: 11/05/2026

Full Time, Fixed Term until 31st December 2026.

Location:
This position is open to office and/or home working. When service needs arise you will be expected to work in City Hall as required.

Following the recent implementation of a new integrated NEC Housing Management System, 4 temporary position vacancies have arisen at a senior level on the Application Support Team to lead in the next phase of the implementation project as well as delivering stability for the existing modules.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Application Team at a time which is both exciting and challenging as we seek to embed the new system but also deliver new modules which will benefit staff and customers in Bristol. Phase 2 work to be completed in 2026 include moving the Housing Support Register into NEC Housing, implementing Contractor Portal and online repair reporting as well as work to support our asset management team.

You will be joining a Housing Application Support Team which provides support and administration of all Housing Functions such as Housing Management (Estates and Income Management), Repairs and Housing Options used by approximately 1,000 users. You may be asked to lead on development of some day to day support functions and will also act as a Workstream Lead in delivering modules in the new stage of implementation, supporting the Programme Team.

You may be involved in the design, build and testing of new modules and will need to liaise with the business to ensure we deliver the best possible solution.  To fulfil all the responsibilities of this post, extensive knowledge of Housing is important as is the ability to lead on work packages.  As these posts are available on a temporary basis until 31 December only, it is also important that you have experience of supporting a Housing Application System, preferably NEC Housing. It is also desirable to have SQL skills as these may be needed.

If you are experienced in Application Support, committed to the provision of local government services, especially Housing and want to shape the development of a new system during 2026, this may be the opportunity for you.

Note that some out of hours working may be required for these posts.

Further details of the essential criteria and responsibilities of the role can be found in the Person Specification and Job Description.

Please note that this role is not open to job share/part time working.

Sponsorship is not available for this post.
