Are you passionate about making a positive and lasting difference for the people of Bristol?

Bristol has a clear Vision for Adult Social Care - Supporting people in vibrant and diverse communities to live in a place they call home, with the people they love, doing the things that matter to them.

We are recruiting for a talented and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our service.

Your role will be to undertake Occupational Therapy assessments in complex situations for people with long term physical and mental health diagnoses, ensuring up to date and innovative approaches.

Occupational Therapists utilise highly specialised equipment to sustain independent living and have a good knowledge of risk assessment and moving and handling skills. They provide assessments using the Care Act (2014) and undertake reviews of care and support plans.

The teams contain Team Managers, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Social Care Practitioners, Occupational Therapy Aides and Case Workers. They ensure there is collaborative dialogue with individuals and work closely with carers and care providers to ensure outcomes are met, seeking feedback from the individual in receipt of the service that then informs continuous improvement in approaches. They will co-work complex cases with social work practitioners, housing adaptations practitioners, and specialist teams in community health.

What we are looking for

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to utilise your OT knowledge and skills, with a good understanding and application of Adult Social Care legislation. We will expect you to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the OT process and assessment, legal frameworks, and safeguarding.  You will have a strong passion for Equality, Diversity, and Belonging.

You will have a full induction, supervision from an experienced and supportive Manager and be part of a supportive and creative team, with opportunities for training and continuous professional development activities. We endeavour to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to develop highly skilled, evidence-based practice, utilising the 4 pillars of the RCOT career development framework. We provide regular OT specific learning and development activities and also provide practice educators with a payment for supporting student placements.

“We are committed to ensuring Occupational Therapists in Bristol are at the forefront of innovative and evidence-based practice as we develop our services further. We recognise the unique skill set and excellent outcomes Occupational Therapists achieve with people in the city, enabling belonging, and supporting people to engage in meaningful occupation.
