Strategic Intelligence and Performance Adviser
Bristol City Council
Fixed Term for 12 months
A great opportunity has arisen to join Bristol City Council’s Strategic Intelligence and Performance Team as a Strategic Intelligence and Performance Advisor.
This is currently a 12 month fixed-term contract, as there is a review underway of our data and performance reporting processes which is expected to re-shape the team, including utilising Power BI to provide enhanced reporting products.
Strategic Intelligence and Performance is a central support team, working across the entire Council. We’re officially based in City Hall but most staff work from home most of the time, although there is always an option to go into the office.
What does the team do?
Strategic Intelligence includes a range of high-level public reports providing headline data and intelligence on Bristol, and providing council-wide insight products to support Services, senior leaders and elected members – see www.bristol.gov.uk/statistics
Performance Management provides effective performance information to managers and senior leadership within Bristol City Council, including Councillors and Policy Committees as part of the BCC Performance Framework. This supports ongoing improvement of services and delivery of the Corporate Strategy – see Performance - bristol.gov.uk
What will you be doing?
This role will primarily focus on Performance Management and will be instrumental in helping to implement the Performance Framework 2025-28, alongside developing new approaches to supporting performance improvement and delivering performance insight.
You will be the lead Performance Advisor to one of the Council’s Directorates – expected to be the Homes and Housing Directorate - supporting senior managers to identify performance improvement opportunities and offering challenge as appropriate, to help services improve performance. This may involve liaising with data analyst teams to identify emerging issues and improve data reporting processes.
The role also includes supporting performance reporting to the Council’s Policy Committees, including delivery against the Corporate Strategy priorities, and supporting with Service Planning and Corporate Business Planning.
The post would suit someone confident with data and an eye for detail who can work independently, and can confidently engage with senior managers.
