An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced professional to supervise a team delivering planned improvements, repairs, and maintenance projects across Bristol City Council’s housing stock.

You will ensure programmes are delivered to a high standard, drive continuous improvement, and secure value for money across all works.

What Will I Be Doing?

You will oversee a team and be responsible for the end to end planning, development, and delivery of a range of programmes, including low rise external and internal communal repairs and painting, window and roof replacements, and other investment projects.

Your role will include:

  • Day to Day supervision of a team, carrying out one to ones, performance reviews, managing attendance, conduct and team meetings.
  • Leading and motivating a team of Project Surveyors and a Technical Officer to achieve programme targets.
  • Overseeing programme delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and managing budgets.
  • Managing contractor performance through meetings, KPIs, quality monitoring, and payment authorisation.
  • Administering contracts and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Supporting delivery of other programmes such as kitchen replacements, rewires, and fire safety works as required.


What Do I Need to Have?

  • We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to delivering excellent services for residents.


You will need:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction related field, plus relevant practical experience; or equivalent knowledge gained through significant experience in building, surveying, or construction.
  • Proven experience supervising technical staff, managing performance, and organising workloads to meet time and budget constraints.
  • Experience in budget management and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM Regulations, particularly in relation to housing and construction projects.
  • Ability to take ownership of programmes, ensuring high quality delivery, compliance, and excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Experience managing contracts and KPIs, with confidence to challenge poor workmanship and ensure standards are met.
  • Technical competence in writing and interpreting specifications, drawings, and manufacturers’ instructions.
