Join our Neighbourhood Enforcement Team and play a vital role in supporting vulnerable residents, responding to vehicle dwelling encampments, and improving neighbourhoods across the city. This is your opportunity to be at the forefront & help shape how Bristol City Council takes a fair and effective approach to people living in vehicles in line with the recently adopted new policy.

What You’ll Do

As a Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer, you will:

  • Proactively engage with people living in vehicles on highways or council-owned land, prioritising support and taking enforcement action where appropriate.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine the impact of vehicle dwelling on local communities, environment, and public health.
  • Work in partnership with outreach workers, social care, public health, and homelessness prevention teams to provide holistic support.
  • Take evidence-based enforcement action, including serving legal notices, in line with council policies and relevant legislation.
  • Support the wider team in taking action to address a range of neighbourhood issues, including noise nuisance, fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, highways and licensing enforcement, and other relevant priorities as required.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
