Are you a Psychology graduate planning a career in Educational Psychology? This is an exciting opportunity to gain high-quality experience within Brent's Educational Psychology Service, working alongside qualified Educational Psychologists and developing the skills, knowledge and insight valued in applications for professional training.
The Role
With guidance and supervision from Educational Psychologists, you’ll use psychology creatively across a varied programme of project work.
You’ll work with children and young people, parents, schools and other professionals, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across a range of educational and inclusion-focused work.
You’ll:
- Help devise, deliver and evaluate training for professionals.
- Support projects across the Educational Psychology and wider Inclusion Service, from initial planning through to evaluation.
- Work directly with individual and groups of children and young people, as well as parents and colleagues in schools.
- Gather, analyse and interpret data to understand impact and inform service development.
- Develop project specifications, plans and deliver work within agreed timescales.
- Support key EPS functions including decision-making panels, team meetings and case allocations.
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to develop your professional experience, learn from qualified Educational Psychologists and see first-hand how psychology can influence outcomes for children, families and education settings.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who is curious, motivated and passionate about applying psychology to improve the experiences of children and young people.
You’ll need:
- A good honours degree in Psychology providing Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Relevant post-graduate experience working with children and young people, for example within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of and interest in developmental psychology, education and Special Educational Needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to work flexibly with children and adults.
- The ability to initiate and progress project work independently.
- Strong ICT and data analysis skills.

This role is for applicants committed to pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, who intend to apply for a recognised professional doctoral training programme during their employment. Please note that doctoral training typically takes three years to complete.
