Legal Finance and Admin Assistant

We are looking for a Legal and Finance Admin Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and financial practice management support to Legal Services. The role manages accounts payable for all legal suppliers, maintains financial processes (including supplier setup, invoices, disbursements, and reporting), and supports time-recording, starters/leavers processes, and systems such as Oracle, IKEN, and court bundling systems.
In addition to providing sound financial support and analysis the post also co-ordinates key operational tasks—such as annual practising certificate renewals, Lexcel assessment, project support, and customer/supplier enquiries—while ensuring compliance with Council policies and data protection.
We are looking for an experienced Legal & Finance Admin Assistant used to working in a busy office with strong organisational and communication skills; with a sound understanding and experience of financial processes relating to a busy legal department.
The successful candidate must have the ability to build successful relationships, work closely and communicate effectively with a range of staff across Legal Services, the council and suppliers. They must be able to help resolve queries and ensure that the financial processes are operating efficiently and effectively. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise to achieve internal reporting deadlines, and meticulous attention to detail, are critical for this role; together with a good understanding of effective legal practice management service support or equivalent, Iken case management system and the Lexcel assessment requirements will also be required.
