The Post

The Accounts Payable team has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Accounts Payable Finance officer position.  The role, working to the Accounts Payable manager will be responsible for administering AP processes while working within a defined financial control framework to ensure compliance, and to proactively identify ways in which controls can be strengthened. This position will support service areas in understanding and complying with accounts payable processes by providing guidance, advice and signposting to relevant information, including handling enquiries relating to processes to ensure that high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.

Please note that even though the JD makes references to both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, this post is strictly within Accounts Payable.

The Person

You will have a very good understanding and knowledge of accounts payable processes and the administration of these functions, and how these impact on other Finance teams and the Council.

Detailed knowledge of both the accounts payable and procure to pay processes in Local Government, including an understanding of the control frameworks to be operated in is a prerequisite.

Excellent organisational and team working skills is a must, and a good understanding of modern engagement/communication methods, including an understanding of the control frameworks to be operated in managing complex, high-value and high-volume financial transactions.
