An exciting opportunity as an Early Help Team Leader…

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

The UK Government’s “Stable Homes, Built on Love” strategy sets out a transformative vision for children’s social care, and our new integrated structure—which merges Early Help and Children’s Social Care—directly supports several of its core missions. The Early Help Team Leader plays a pivotal role in our newly integrated service model. The role is designed to provide a seamless continuum of support for children, young people, and families.

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage a team of Family Support Workers delivering targeted early help interventions, ensuring that families receive timely, effective, and coordinated support that prevents escalation to statutory social care services. This role bridges the gap between universal services and statutory intervention, promoting a whole-family approach and fostering multi-agency collaboration to improve outcomes for children and families.

The Person

The successful candidate will be an experienced and compassionate professional with a strong background in children’s services, skilled in leading teams and delivering early intervention support. They will possess excellent communication and safeguarding knowledge with skill in managing complex family situations, and they will be committed to building trusting relationships with families and professionals. With a strategic mindset and a passion for improving outcomes, they will foster a culture of learning, resilience, and integrated working across the team and across the multi-agency network.
