The Post

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Children and Young People’s Occupational Therapy Service. You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with disabilities, helping them thrive at home and in their communities.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

•    Undertake specialist functional assessments within children’s homes, schools and community settings.
•    Recommend and coordinate the provision of equipment, seating, manual handling plans and minor adaptations.
•    Work closely with families, carers and professionals to develop personalised plans that promote independence, inclusion, play and participation.
•    Contribute to the design of major home adaptations, collaborating with Housing, surveyors, architects and partner agencies.
•    Provide high quality written reports to support Disabled Facilities Grants, rehousing applications and statutory assessments.
You will be part of a supportive OT team with access to clinical supervision, professional development, and close links to adult OT colleagues across the council.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is:

•    Holds a Degree /Diploma from the College of Occupational Therapist or equivalent and OT registered with the Health Care Professionals Council 
•    Child focused and compassionate, with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children with disabilities.
•    Clinically confident, able to carry out detailed assessments and make evidence based recommendations.
•    Analytical and solution focused, able to identify risks, problem solve creatively and deliver practical outcomes.
•    Collaborative and open, working effectively with parents, carers, schools, health professionals and housing colleagues.
•    Organised and reliable, able to manage a varied caseload and adapt to changing priorities.
•    A reflective practitioner, committed to ongoing learning, supervision and high professional standards.
