We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our Programme Management & Delivery Team to support the planning, delivery and governance of the Fit for the Future programme and other strategic projects.

Taking the lead on a portfolio of complex projects, including service-led initiatives arising from Local Government Reorganisation, you will work closely with senior managers, programme leads and stakeholders to ensure delivery is aligned with organisational priorities and strategic objectives.

This role will be central to supporting the Council’s transformation objectives, helping to plan, control and deliver projects that improve how we work, strengthen governance and support effective organisational change.

You will apply appropriate project management methodologies, establish effective governance arrangements, provide clear and accurate reporting and offer professional advice and support to project teams and senior officers.

You will also lead and coordinate project-level change and transition activity, including implementation planning, impact assessment and readiness for change, engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, as well as using your professional judgement to manage risks, resolve issues and escalate significant concerns.

With proven project management experience, you will have a good understanding of change management principles and methodologies and experience of managing programmes, risks and budgets.

You will be degree-qualified in a relevant field of study, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, and hold a professional qualification such as APM or PRINCE2.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, good presentation and organisational skills, plus experience of using project management tools and Microsoft Office, you will have the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
