Braintree District Council

Braintree£41,145 to £45,498 per annum37Closes: 2026-05-11

We have a great opportunity for an Operations Support Manager to join our busy Operations team.

Supporting the Strategy and Business Development Manager with the development and delivery of Operations services, you will manage a variety of teams, including Waste Minimisation and Sustainability, Business Support and Cemeteries.

You will take the lead on performance reviews, sickness absence management, employee development and disciplinary investigations and support and motivate your teams to promote their services and identify, develop and implement new initiatives.

Working proactively to explore opportunities for improvement and networking, you will attend external partnership meetings, trade events and conferences to ensure the Service keeps up to date with industry related news and legislative changes.

You will also lead on managing the project updates to the corporate performance monitoring system and the maintenance of infrastructure, assets and facilities within Operations, including planning annual health and safety inspections and ad-hoc site visits.

This is a varied and fast paced role, which requires a dynamic, resilient, can do and ‘thinking outside of the box’ approach.

You will have substantial experience of managing and supporting multiple teams, with a proven track record of delivering measurable results.

Qualifications and recycling industry knowledge, including an understanding of legislative changes, would be advantageous – however, we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience who can demonstrate great people-management skills and a willingness to learn.

Flexibility around working hours is essential, as you will be on the weekend out of hours duty rota. You must have a full, UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Operations service during a time of change. If you are motivated and organised, with great communication skills and the ability to proactively manage your workload, delegate tasks and ensure your teams are meeting deadlines, then we would love to hear from you.
