We have a great opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our Property and Asset Management Team.

We provide professional asset and estate management services and deliver property management solutions for the general fund portfolio. The portfolio is mostly commercial property and land including corporate offices, leisure centres, investment property, country park estates and community centres.

The role will support the Senior Building Surveyor and work with the Assistant Building Surveyor to undertake and commission a wide range of building surveying duties, including condition surveys, schedules of dilapidations, planning and building control applications, specifications, drawings, contract administration and project management.

You will also assist the wider Asset Management Team with property-related maintenance and regulatory requirements, including the delivery of minor works and major projects within the Capital Programme.

Taking the lead on the design and project management of maintenance and refurbishment schemes, including instructions to contractors and consultants and attendance at site meetings, you will Commission and deliver the intelligent client role for condition surveys and planned maintenance programmes for Council property.

You will also prepare and submit planning and building regulation applications for relevant building surveying minor works projects, appoint, co-ordinate and manage external consultants for capital and building maintenance projects and other property-related works and investigate building issues identified, commissioning specialists if required.

Our ideal Building Surveyor will have the below skills and experience:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent qualification, as well as a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification and experience of working within established regulatory frameworks
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and/or Chartered Institute of Building
  • Demonstrable technical experience and competence in estimating and surveying in construction
  • Experience of managing projects and contracts from inception to completion, using recognised project management techniques and systems
  • Good IT skills, including CAD programmes, and knowledge of JCT construction contracts
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and proactively manage your own workload
