Are you ready to lead the future of pensions technology at scale? West Yorkshire Pension Fund is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Pensions Systems Manager to shape and deliver high-performing administration systems supporting over 500,000 members across the LGPS and Fire Pension Schemes.
his is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll define the vision, strategy and direction for pensions administration software services—driving innovation, efficiency and transformation in a highly regulated environment.
What you’ll do
You’ll lead a skilled team of systems administrators, fostering a high-performance culture that challenges the status quo and delivers measurable improvement. You’ll oversee system upgrades, testing and implementation, ensuring accuracy, compliance and seamless integration into operations. Acting as the subject matter expert, you’ll translate complex system changes into practical outcomes and provide training to administration teams.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, external suppliers and industry bodies, contributing to national pensions strategy and ensuring WYPF remains at the forefront of best practice. From managing third-party services such as print and mailing to driving cost efficiencies through innovation, your impact will be wide-ranging and tangible.
You’ll also play a key role in governance, risk management and compliance—ensuring systems meet regulatory standards, including GDPR, and that quality assurance and audit processes are robust and continuously improved.
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring extensive experience in software and systems management, with at least five years in the field and two at a senior level. A degree or equivalent pensions qualification is essential. You’ll have deep expertise in pensions administration systems and a strong understanding of LGPS and Fire Pension Scheme regulations.
A confident leader, you’ll be skilled in developing teams, managing suppliers and delivering complex projects. You’ll combine technical knowledge with strategic insight, using data and analysis to inform decisions and drive service improvements.
