Our Recycling Advisors are responsible for promoting effective recycling practices and supporting environmental sustainability across the district.
This role involves engaging with residents to provide guidance on correct waste segregation, reducing contamination, and improving recycling rates.
The position requires previous experience within waste management or environmental services. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, confident, and an excellent communicator, capable of engaging with a wide range of audiences and encouraging positive behaviour change.
A key aspect of the role is community engagement. As a Recycling Advisor you will deliver presentations in schools, working closely with children to build awareness of recycling and environmental responsibility.
They will also attend local events and organise and host activities at community centres to promote recycling initiatives. The ability to confidently lead events and interact with the public is essential.
The role involves travelling across the district, so a full UK driving licence is required.

The position includes occasional weekend work which you will need to be available for.
The successful candidate must also be able to handle challenging situations professionally and manage conflict where it arises.
Overall, the Recycling Advisor plays a vital role in helping to meet environmental targets, reduce landfill waste, and support sustainable communities through education, engagement, and proactive outreach.
It is essential that you have/are:
- A full UK driving licence
- A minimum of two year’s experience within a waste management or environmental service role
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to walk long distances
- Good health & safety awareness
- Excellent communication & customer service skills
A DBS check will be required.
The successful candidate will be someone who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, and has excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, engage individuals and groups, and encourage positive behavioural change.
