What You'll Be Doing

As part of a professional collection crew, you will:

• Drive a specialist food waste collection vehicle and other HGV collection vehicles as required.
• Collect food waste and support other waste collection services across the district.
• Work closely with your team to complete daily routes safely and efficiently.
• Help supervise crew members and ensure safe working practices are followed.
• Operate in-cab technology and collection management systems.
• Identify and record contaminated containers in line with service procedures.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks. 
• Complete vehicle records, defect reports and associated paperwork.
• Help ensure vehicles and equipment are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Deliver a courteous, helpful service to residents and local businesses.

This is an active, physical role. You'll be on your feet and moving throughout the day, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and you'll finish each shift knowing you've made a real difference in keeping your community clean, safe and running smoothly.

Who We're Looking For

We're not just looking for experience; we're looking for the right attitude.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Hold a valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence and Driver CPC.
• Professional drivers with strong, confident driving skills, particularly when manoeuvring and reversing collection vehicles.
• Physically fit and happy to work all year round outdoors.
• Motivated, reliable and team-focused with a strong work ethic.
• Reliable, safety-conscious and committed to following procedures at all times.
• Comfortable using vehicle technology and completing operational paperwork. 
• Professional and respectful when dealing with members of the public.
