Senior Graphic Designer
Bradford City Council
Job Introduction
The Team
Bradford Council's Marketing and Communications team delivers strategic communications, marketing, media, digital content and creative services that support the Council's priorities and connect with residents, businesses, partners and communities. Working across all council services, we create engaging and accessible communications that inform, inspire and make a positive difference across the district.
The Role
To support content development and delivery, we are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Graphic Designer to join Bradford Council's Marketing and Communications team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping how the Council visually communicates with residents, businesses, partners and communities across the Bradford district. You'll create high-impact visual communications that support a wide range of council services, campaigns and strategic priorities, helping people access information, engage with services and feel connected to their local authority.
As our Senior Graphic Designer, you'll be much more than a designer. You'll be a creative leader, trusted adviser and brand guardian, ensuring our communications are engaging, accessible and consistent across every channel. From major corporate campaigns and service launches to digital content, publications, social media and out of home graphics, your work will have a visible impact across the district.
We're looking for someone with exceptional creative skills and a passion for visual storytelling. You'll be confident taking client briefs, some with a degree of complexity, and transforming them into creative solutions that inform, inspire and engage diverse audiences.
You'll be:
- Leading the development and delivery of high-quality creative design solutions across a wide range of council services, campaigns and communication channels.
- Acting as a brand guardian for Bradford Council, championing brand standards, accessibility, consistency and best practice across all communications.
- Providing expert creative advice and guidance to colleagues, stakeholders and senior leaders across the organisation.
- Creating compelling designs across print, digital, social media, advertising and out of home applications.
- Support the development of innovative campaigns that communicate council priorities and engage residents, businesses, partners and visitors.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously across our design team, balancing competing priorities and delivering work to deadline.
- Supporting the continuous development of the council's visual identity and creative approach.
- Keeping up to date with design trends, emerging technologies and industry best practice to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
You'll need:
- Significant experience in a professional graphic design role, with a strong portfolio demonstrating creative excellence across multiple channels.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects.
- Experience designing for print, digital, web, social media and video platforms.
- A strong understanding of brand management and visual identity development.
- Excellent creative, conceptual and visual communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging and accessible communications.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to advise, influence and challenge constructively.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across a large organisation.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- A passion for creativity, innovation and continuous improvement.
