Job Introduction
The Service Support & Development Team sits within the Built Environment function in Assets & Facilities Management and provides a critical backbone to operational service delivery. The team is responsible for managing high‑volume financial, administrative and helpdesk processes that enable effective maintenance and service operations across the Council’s estate.
This includes coordinating reactive maintenance requests, processing and controlling financial transactions, maintaining accurate service data, and supporting key corporate systems such as SAP and the Asset Management System. The team works closely with operational services, suppliers, contractors and corporate support functions to ensure that services are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to a high standard of customer service.
We are looking for a Senior Service Support & Development Officer to join our dedicated team. The Senior Service Support & Development Officer leads and manages the Service Support & Development Team, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality financial, administrative and helpdesk functions across Built Environment.
The role provides professional and technical expertise in financial processes, systems management and performance monitoring, ensuring that all service data, transactions and outputs are accurate, compliant and support effective decision‑making. The postholder is responsible for driving performance, managing resources and leading continuous improvement to enhance service efficiency, customer experience and operational outcomes.
Working at a senior operational level, the role acts as a key link between systems, finance and frontline service delivery, ensuring that processes, technology and people are aligned to support the Council’s priorities and service standards.
The main responsibilities of this role:
- Lead and manage team performance
Manage and develop a team of Service Support & Development Officers, setting objectives, monitoring performance and ensuring delivery against KPIs, service standards and compliance requirements. - Oversee financial control and governanceEnsure the accurate processing, validation and control of invoices, purchase orders and service expenditure, maintaining compliance with Financial Regulations and managing significant budgets.
- Coordinate service support and helpdesk deliveryLead the delivery of the Built Environment helpdesk, ensuring service requests are accurately captured, prioritised and communicated to support effective operational response.
- Manage systems and service dataOversee the effective use and development of key systems (e.g. SAP, Concerto), ensuring data accuracy, system integrity and continuous improvement in processes and reporting.
- Drive service improvement and stakeholder engagementIdentify and implement improvements to processes and practices, while maintaining strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
