The Chief Executive’s Office delivers a range of policy, research and administrative support and advice to the Council’s Chief Executive and its political leadership and elected members. The team is based in Bradford’s City Hall.
Role Description
We are recruiting a Policy Officer (Political Group Office) to provide support to the Council’s Reform UK Group which holds the political leadership of the Council. The post holder will work directly with the group leader and members of the Council’s Executive. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the country’s 5th biggest metropolitan council serving a large, diverse and youthful population of over half a million people and more than 16,000 businesses.
The principal responsibilities of the post are:
- Provide a policy, research and communications service for the group leader and members of the group.
- Support the group leader through research and analysis and advice.
- Advise the group leader and members on current issues and matters impacting on the group and council policies.
- Liaise with Council officers, including senior management, on matters affecting Council and Group policy and communications.
The successful candidate will have:
- Understanding and awareness of the key issues facing local government and of its decision-making processes.
- Political awareness and the ability to relate to and work with elected members
- Skills in researching, analysing, interpreting and presenting a wide range of information and data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to maintain strict confidentiality, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good IT skills.
