Job Introduction

Our team

The Intelligence and Sufficiency team ensures there are sufficient childcare places for children aged 0–19 to meet the needs of working parents and those in training. The team monitors and supports childcare quality, providing guidance and training to schools and private providers. They analyse childcare and school place supply and demand, producing annual reports to identify gaps—particularly for vulnerable families and children with disabilities. The team also helps parents understand their childcare options and manages the financial processes that enable families to access their free entitlements.

The role

This is a new exciting temporary post for 18 months to be part of the team to develop our school-aged childcare strategy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic School Aged Childcare Programme Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team in the Intelligence and Sufficiency Service. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The ideal candidate will lead and manage working with parents/carers, providers and children about demand for wraparound childcare and will support schools and childcare providers to develop sustainable provision.

The main responsibilities of this role:

  • ensuring the sustainability of wraparound places already created and supporting the market to deliver further places where needed
  • supporting the rollout of free breakfast clubs
  • working closely with the delivery of the HAF programme to ensure joined up working between HAF funded holiday activities and wider holiday childcare in the area, within a thriving childcare market
