 We are looking for a skilled and motivated HGV & Motor Vehicle/Plant Mechanic to join our experienced and close-knit workshop team at Shearbridge Depot.

 Bradford council operates one of West Yorkshire’s largest and most diverse local authority fleet operations, maintaining circa 1,700 vehicles, which is increasing, including specialist plant equipment that deliver essential frontline services across the district every day. 

 From refuse collection vehicles and winter maintenance machinery to operational support vehicles and specialist plant machinery. Our fleet workshop plays a vital role in keeping the city running safely efficiently and reliably.

 We’re looking for someone who - 

• Is apprentice trained to City & Guilds 380/383 Level 2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised standard.
• Holds an LGV Class C or C+E Licence – or is willing to work towards obtaining one.
• Has strong technical and diagnostic skills.
• Can work safely, efficiently and professionally under pressure.
• Takes pride in delivering high quality workmanship.
• Works well as part of a team and supports colleagues.
• Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Is reliable, adaptable and motivated.

 The Role – 

 In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and complex repairs to a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to high professional standards. 

 This is a practical role within a busy operational workshop environment. The position will involve physical duties including lifting, bending, kneeling & carrying along with occasional roadside and site repairs throughout the Bradford district in all weather conditions. The role requires a proactive approach with the ability to respond to changing priorities, and service demands in a busy operational workshop.

 No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and problem solving - where your technical skills and expertise will directly contribute to keeping essential council services operating safely and effectively for the residents of Bradford.
