Waste Collector Driver
Bradford City Council
Job Introduction
Make a visible difference every single day.
Are you an experienced driver who takes pride in operating large vehicles safely and skilfully? Do you enjoy staying active, working outdoors, and being part of a close‑knit team? We’re looking for reliable, hardworking Class 2 Waste Collection Drivers to join our frontline Waste Collections team.
This is more than just a driving job — it’s a vital public service with real responsibility and real impact. Our crews support over 200,000 households and thousands of local businesses, and we value the essential work they do.
If you want stable employment, great team spirit, and a role where your work truly matters, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a key member of a professional collection crew, you will:
- Drive a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle safely and confidently across the district
- Carry out frequent reversing manoeuvres in tight, restricted, or heavily populated areas
- Work closely with your crew to complete daily routes safely and efficiently
- Collect household waste as part of the team
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are clean, safe and well maintained
- Provide courteous, helpful service to residents and local businesses
This is an active, physical role and you’ll finish each shift knowing you’ve made a real difference in keeping your community clean, safe and running smoothly.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re not just looking for experience - we’re looking for the right attitude. Experience in waste collection or similar outdoor work is helpful, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors all year round
- Motivated, reliable, and team-focused with a strong work ethic.
- Safety-conscious and aware of your surroundings
- Professional and respectful when dealing with members of the public
If you are interested in the role, but unsure whether you meet requirement, we encourage you to apply - we value potential, attitude and commitment as much as experience.
