Job Introduction

Bradford Council is expanding its provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We have established Specialist Resourced Provisions to support children with Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across primary and secondary schools in the Bradford District.

We are seeking experienced SEND Learning Support Assistants to support pupils within these newly established provisions. Staff will be centrally employed by Bradford Children’s Services and deployed across a range of mainstream schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with ASD and SEMH needs within resourced provisions
  • Assist with learning and development across primary or secondary age ranges
  • Work closely with teaching staff to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Support pupils to develop skills that enable them to achieve their full potential

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ASD and/or SEMH needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children with SEND
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) – essential
  • Fluency in English, with examples provided as required by the SEND Code of Practice
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to an inclusive school culture
  • Awareness of the principles of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
