Job Introduction

Take the lead. Shape the future. Build a career that matters.

Bradford isn’t just a great place to work — it’s a place to make a real impact. As one of the UK’s most diverse, youngest, ambitious and fast‑evolving cities, Bradford offers a professional landscape that is as challenging as it is rewarding. If you’re the kind of Environmental Health professional who thrives on complexity, innovation and genuine public value, this is where you will flourish.

Why Bradford? Why Now?

Bradford is a city in transformation. With major regeneration projects underway, a growing and incredibly diverse population, and a uniquely varied environmental health profile, the work here is never routine. This is the kind of environment where skilled professionals don’t just apply policy — they shape it. Bradford gives you the platform to influence departmental direction, drive improvement, and leave a legacy of safer, healthier communities.

What You’ll Gain

• A career-defining challenge — Bradford’s scale and diversity mean you’ll develop expertise faster and more broadly than in many comparable authorities.

• Real influence — You’ll help steer the strategic direction of Environmental Health services, contributing to policy, innovation and long-term planning.

• Professional growth — Work alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive, forward-thinking department committed to continuous development.

• A city that values your work — Environmental Health is central to Bradford’s ambitions for regeneration, resilience, and community wellbeing. Your contribution will be visible and meaningful.

The Role

As an Environmental Health Manager, you’ll be fully qualified, competent, and experienced as our new Lead Food Officer. You will lead your team, support colleagues, guide complex casework, and ensure high standards across a wide-ranging portfolio. You’ll bring professional credibility, strong leadership, and the confidence to make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.

This is a role for someone who wants to stretch themselves — you will be someone who sees challenge as opportunity. You’ll be ready to help shape the future of Environmental Health in one of the UK’s most dynamic cities. You could be a leader who seeks a change of scenery, or a qualified Senior EHO/EHP who wants to take that next step into management.

The Reward

  • Salary up to PO6 (£54,495)
  • An excellent work-life balance
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • A supportive, collaborative, working culture
  • The chance to make a measurable difference to the lives of people in Bradford
