Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term

Role specifics: Successful candidates will undertake either a level 2 or level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship based on prior achievement.

To undertake the level 3 apprenticeship applicants must have GCSE maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent.

If applicants do not already have GCSE maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent, they will undertake the level 2 apprenticeship - and work towards achieving functional skills maths and English alongside the apprenticeship.

Join Bolton Council's School Leaver Apprenticeship Programme and gain hands-on experience while earning a salary and working towards a recognised qualification. You'll learn new skills, meet new people, build your confidence and discover what it's like to work for your local council.

Forget the idea of stuffy offices and spending your days filing paperwork. As a Business Support Apprentice, no two days are the same. You could be helping customers, organising meetings, updating records, supporting projects, attending events, or working with other teams across the Council to keep services running smoothly. With support from experienced colleagues every step of the way.

You’ll also work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge and experience needed to 'Xcelerate' your future career whilst making a real difference to the people and communities of Bolton.

About You

Are you determined, organised, and ready to learn?

This is a developmental role, ideal if you are a recent school leaver with little or no previous experience. We're looking for potential, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. If you're motivated, willing to learn, and ready to start your career with Bolton Council, we'd love to hear from you.

To ensure we meet our aims for the school leaver programme and comply with apprenticeship funding rules, we are looking for young people who are passionate about joining Bolton Council, a team player who is not afraid to try new things and is able to listen and learn from others. You must also demonstrate that you have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office.


You must also:

  • Be aged between 16-18 years old on 31st December 2026.
  • Live within the boundaries of the borough of Bolton.
  • Not already hold Administration qualification or similar at level 3 or above.
  • Be a UK resident and have lived here for the past three years
