Bolton Council’s Commissioning Team plays a key role in meeting our departmental objectives of being fair, equitable and outcomes focused, enabling the people of Bolton to live well in their own home and community. We collaborate with partners and providers to commission services that help people achieve their full potential and to obtain the outcomes they want.
A varied and interesting role
We’re responsible for the design, planning, procurement, and monitoring of social care services. Our commissioning activity ranges from prevention through to statutory provision of home care and care home placements. This role, within our Age Well Team, focuses on commissioning extra care services. You’ll lead projects, co-produce and develop strategies. You’ll monitor quality standards and drive innovation to meet departmental objectives.

About You
You’ll ideally have commissioning experience and be confident working on your own initiative. Strong written skills are essential, as report writing and strategy development form a key part of the role. You should be able to research independently and demonstrate analytical ability.
You’ll need excellent planning and prioritisation skills to manage competing demands and meet deadlines. You’ll be competent with IT. Strong communication skills are a requirement, along with the ability to build relationships with providers, partners, and colleagues, and deliver presentations to varied audiences. An understanding of older people’s social care is an advantage.
You’ll want to play your part in the Age Well team and to make a difference for the people of Bolton.
