The Greater Manchester Social Work Academy (GMSWA) is a unique and ambitious partnership between Local Authorities, universities, NHS partners and regional bodies, created to strengthen social work education and the workforce pipeline across the whole of Greater Manchester. As Partnership Manager, you will play a central systemleadership role, connecting organisations, coordinating activity and helping to shape how GM develops, supports and prepares its future social workers.
You will lead the daytoday coordination of the Academy’s work, supporting governance, developing clear and accessible documentation, analysing workforce intelligence, and keeping key programmes, workstreams and partnership activity well organised and moving forward. You will also manage a small team of project support staff, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, deadlines are met and that the partnership has a reliable central point of coordination. The role requires someone who is confident using their own initiative, able to work autonomously, and comfortable holding a broad, varied and fastmoving workload that spans multiple organisations and priorities.
This is an exciting role for a qualified social worker who enjoys relational leadership, collaborative working and influencing across a system. You’ll have the opportunity to shape developments in social work practice education across GM, strengthen connections between employers and universities, and make a meaningful contribution to the development of a confident, capable and thriving social work workforce.
About You
You’ll be a qualified social worker, with experience in practice, workforce development, practice education or partnership working. You’ll enjoy working with a range of stakeholders and feel confident engaging with senior leaders, university colleagues and regional partners.
You’ll bring strong organisational skills, excellent communication and the ability to see both the detail and the bigger picture. You’ll be comfortable managing documentation, preparing clear written updates, working with data and coordinating events or meetings. You’ll have experience supporting or contributing to multiagency projects and feel confident taking ownership of tasks, using your initiative and working independently when required.
You don’t need to have worked in an academy before - what matters most is your ability to connect people, organise activity, communicate clearly and bring a positive, proactive and collaborative approach to a role that sits right at the centre of the GM social work workforce system.
