Can you create moments that matter for children and young people?

An opportunity has become available to join a committed and established service within children’s residential services supporting children with additional needs. If you have relevant experience but don’t have a professional qualification, we can support you to achieve this in work.
The teams provide essential and valuable care to children and young people aged 8 to 18 years who may present with a range of complex needs, ensuring each child always feels safe and secure in their environment.
We have two homes’; Avondale and Trackside they are purpose-built bungalows that provide a short break care service to disabled young people. You will be required to work within the residential service offering high quality care to young people who need to spend some time away from home.

Avondale: provides care for children and young people with emotional/ behavioural difficulties/Autism, learning difficulties, complex needs and assisting young people intimate personal care needs.

Trackside: also delivers some specialist care including PEG Feeding, Oxygen Therapy/Nebuliser Care, intimate personal care, as a children's residential support worker, you’ll be given comprehensive training for this.

The role requires candidates to work a flexible rota, including weekend, bank holiday and evening work and form part of a committed team.
Successful candidates will work in partnership with young people, their families and as part of a multi-agency team to support young people to make progress, to achieve their full potential.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, a ‘can do’ approach and be committed to improving outcomes for young people.

You will have experience of working with young people who present with the needs mentioned above. Understanding the needs children with a disability and their families is also essential.

The post requires a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent or a commitment to undertake the level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner apprenticeship from you to achieve the qualification within two years of appointment.
