The Role

£46,142 to £50,269 - pay award pending

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bolton Council’s Start Well Commissioning Team in a key management position as a Principal Officer to help transform services and support for the people of Bolton.

The role is within Start Well Commissioning for Children’s Services (including SEND, LAC, Children with Disabilities, Early Help, and Transition).

As a Principal Officer you would:

Lead, manage and develop a team of Commissioning and Placement Officers with a particular focus on the delivery of high quality, effective and well managed contracted services. Assist the Head of Service in the development and/or delivery of strategic work plans, ensuring services deliver the best outcomes for children.
Lead on various interlinked projects ensuring a robust project management approach is maintained to ensure timely delivery of workstreams.


About You

Are you highly motivated and energetic with great interpersonal skills and the ability to build excellent relationships and partnerships? Do you want to make a real difference to the lives and outcomes of people in the local community? If so, then you might be the right person to join us.

You will have the ability to lead and work strategically on intelligence led and high-quality commissioning plans, strategies, and projects. You will be capable of balancing multiple areas of work, reporting on progress and delivering these within set timescales to achieve required outcomes. You will have excellent analytical and lateral thinking skills, alongside excellent IT skills, that you can effectively use to develop creative and innovative solutions, and you will be capable of leading and managing others to work both independently and as part of a team.

With a positive attitude to change and the ability to support innovation and cultural change to drive improvements across Children’s Services, you will have experience of overcoming barriers to deliver successful outcomes. Whether you have a background in commissioning, management or related work, or great transferrable skills, we would welcome your application.
