As a Service Support Officer on the Money Skills team, you will play a key role in supporting residents to improve their financial wellbeing whilst ensuring the smooth daytoday running of the Money Skills service, including the Money Advice element of the team.
You will act as the first point of contact for customers, responding to enquiries, providing accurate information and initial advice, and sensitively supporting people who may be experiencing financial difficulty. This includes assisting with budgeting, affordability discussions and income maximisation, and signposting customers to appropriate services where required. You will arrange appointments, raising purchase orders, processing invoices and maintaining basic budget and petty cash records.
The role also provides essential administrative and organisational support to the Housing Sustainability Service Manager and the Money Skills Team Leader.
You will support the promotion and development of the service, helping to prepare publicity materials, newsletters and social media content, and keeping information up to date on relevant platforms. Accurate data input and record keeping across council systems is a key part of the role, ensuring confidentiality and data protection requirements are met at all times.
You will work collaboratively as part of a wider team, using initiative to manage competing priorities and deliver a responsive, customerfocused service.
This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who is highly organised, customerfocused and committed to supporting residents with money skills and financial inclusion.
About You:
You will be a customerfocused and highly organised individual, with experience of supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds and the ability to deal sensitively with customers who may be facing financial difficulties.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to provide clear information, initial advice and guidance on budgeting, affordability and money management, while maintaining confidentiality and complying with data protection requirements.
You will be confident using IT systems to accurately record customer interactions, manage data and produce documents, reports and correspondence. Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential, along with the ability to manage a varied workload, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.
You will bring experience of administrative and clerical work in a busy environment, with the ability to organise meetings, maintain records, support managers and contribute to the smooth running of a service. Experience of promoting services, using social media or supporting volunteers is desirable.
You will demonstrate a positive, proactive approach, using your initiative to support colleagues, customers and volunteers, and you will be committed to the Council’s values, equality and diversity principles, and delivering a highquality, customerfocused service.
