The Role

Join #TeamBolton as an HR Adviser.
We are seeking to recruit an HR Adviser to join Bolton Council’s Human Resources team on a fixed-term basis to cover a secondment. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering a high-quality HR service to the Chief Executive’s Department.
Managing a variety of services, you will act as a trusted first point of contact for managers and employees, providing specialist HR advice and guidance. You will support a wide range of HR matters, interpreting and applying employment legislation, policies, and terms and conditions to effectively resolve issues and support sound decision-making.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to more complex areas of work, including organisational redesign and restructures, TUPE processes, and the management of detailed and high-level employee relations casework.
This is a career grade position (Grade G-H), and appointment will be made at the appropriate grade based on your skills, knowledge, and experience.
About You
The successful candidate will be CIPD Level 5 qualified and have experience in an HR Advisory role. You will be self-motivated, professional, and approachable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, alongside excellent ICT skills to manage, analyse, and respond to data and information requests.
You will possess strong communication and negotiation skills, enabling you to influence and build effective working relationships while delivering high quality HR support. A sound and up to date knowledge of HR practice and employment legislation is also essential.
Following an initial office-based induction, hybrid working arrangements are available in line with Council policy. However, there is an expectation that the majority of working hours will be based at Bolton Town Hall.
