Bolton Libraries, Museums and Culture are recruiting an experienced Museums and Heritage Manager to lead and manage a team delivering services across Bolton’s museums, archives, aquarium and heritage spaces. The role will oversee collections development and play a lead role in planning and delivering our extensive programme of exhibitions and events.
We pride ourselves on being a vibrant, accessible and welcoming visitor destination, however we recognise that there is always more that can be done and that’s why this role will prioritise projects and partnerships that support community priorities, enhance visitor experiences, and promote access to heritage.
About You
Day to day you will manage budgets, seek out funding opportunities, support staff development and promote volunteer opportunities. You will be responsible for managing risk and compliance in this service area which includes maintaining standards set by accreditation and zoo licence schemes.
We are looking for a great communicator as you will represent the service at various levels, including deputising for senior leadership when needed. This is a varied role that involves balancing the needs of multiple projects and partners simultaneously, including capital projects, heritage programmes, external funders, and colleagues across various Bolton Council departments.
