We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive professional to support the Parking Services Manager and Traffic Regulation Order Manager in delivering effective traffic management across the city, with a strong focus on highway operations and statutory compliance. The role requires a thorough understanding of the Traffic Management Act 2004, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and associated legislation, with responsibility for supporting the Council’s duty to secure the expeditious movement of traffic on its network.
What you will be doing
- Drafting, delivering, reviewing and managing Traffic Regulation Orders in digital and non-digital form.
- Reviewing Traffic Regulation Order schemes on site to ensure compatibility as well as compliance with Regulations and Guidance
- Providing advice and direction on transport matters linked to planning applications, infrastructure schemes and private developments, supported by an awareness of enforcement legislation and practices.
- Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, contribute to consultations, and respond to changing policy priorities.
What experience and skills you will bring to the role
- Management/supervisory experience in a highway related discipline including the understanding of traffic management around new developments and Traffic Regulation Orders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and consultation skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Ability to manage change and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail, particularly when reviewing and preparing Traffic Regulation Orders.
- Strong IT skills and experience using relevant digitised Traffic Regulation Order systems.
