About the Role

We are looking for exceptional leaders to join our Housing Management Service as Area Senior Service Managers. These pivotal roles are responsible for leading locality-based housing teams, delivering high-quality, resident-focused services and driving improvements across Birmingham's neighbourhoods.

Reporting to the Head of Locality Services, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee housing management operations across your area, and work closely with residents, elected members, partners and stakeholders to ensure services are responsive, efficient and aligned to local priorities. You'll play a key role in shaping neighbourhood services, delivering business objectives and ensuring excellent outcomes for tenants and communities across the city. 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading and inspiring large multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent housing management services and achieve key performance targets. 
  • Developing and delivering locality business plans, neighbourhood plans and local service priorities that improve outcomes for residents. 
  • Building strong relationships with residents, community groups, elected members and partner organisations to drive local improvements. 
  • Overseeing estate inspections, local service contracts, caretaking services and tenancy management activity across your area. 
  • Using performance data, customer insight and resident feedback to identify opportunities for service improvement and shape future delivery. 
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure value for money and high-quality service delivery. 
  • Supporting organisational change, continuous improvement and cross-service collaboration to achieve strategic objectives. 

 

About You

We're looking for a visible and engaging leader with substantial experience of managing housing services and delivering results in a complex operational environment.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams within a housing management or customer-focused service environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation and housing management best practice. 
  • Experience of developing neighbourhood initiatives and delivering improvements for local communities. 
  • A track record of using performance data and insight to improve services and drive operational performance. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage senior leaders, residents and partners. 
  • Experience of managing budgets, resources and competing priorities within a demanding environment. 
  • A proven ability to lead teams through change whilst maintaining high levels of performance and customer service.

Key Information

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check for Adults and Children and may involve attending evening or weekend resident meetings, as well as responding to major incidents outside normal working hours when required. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
