An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Birmingham City Council’s Pest Control team.

The team delivers high-quality pest control services to residential customers and selected commercial clients, alongside undertaking land and property clearance activities.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will work both independently and as part of a team to deliver a wide range of services. You will need to be flexible, adaptable, and committed to providing an effective, customer-focused service.

We are looking for individuals who are practical, reliable, and committed to delivering a high-quality service.

Key skills and experience required include:

  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, the British Pest Control Rodenticide qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience of treating or the ability to treat a range of pests including rodents, birds, and insects
  • Ability to assess premises or land for pest activity, including working in lofts, confined spaces, and other challenging environments
  • Ability to carry out manual clearance of waste from land and properties, including bulky or fly-tipped items
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to drive as part of the role (essential)

As a Pest Control Officer, you will:

  • Deliver safe and effective pest control treatments
  • Develop treatment plans and advise on preventing reinfestation
  • Carry out basic pest-proofing and enforcement activity where required
  • Support clearance of contaminated or verminous properties
  • Contribute to commercial and property maintenance work (e.g. clearance, graffiti removal)
  • Maintain vehicles and follow all health and safety procedures
  • Take part in training and continuous development

Additional Information

  • This role involves physical outdoor work in varied environments
  • You may be required to work in challenging conditions, including poorly maintained or contaminated sites
  • Training will be provided to support safe and effective working
