This is an exciting opportunity to join the Business Support Services function at Birmingham City Council. We are recruiting for a highly organised and proactive individual to undertake the role of Business Support Manager, with a focus on supporting the Strategy, Insight & Governance Directorate.

You will play a key role in leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality, responsive and fit-for-purpose business support. You’ll be expected to build strong relationships across the Directorate and wider services, understand business needs, and drive service improvements with creativity and confidence.

As a Business Support Manager, you will work as part of a dynamic leadership team, managing a range of business support functions including line management, performance, supervisions, and sickness. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with governance, FOI, SARs, while also identifying opportunities to modernise and digitalise processes.

You will need to be a confident and proactive leader with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and quickly understand the Organisational landscape. You’ll be expected to use initiative, read between the lines, and suggest practical solutions that improve service delivery and add value. A strong understanding of business support and its contribution to frontline services is essential.

You’ll also be expected to bring fresh ideas, suggest digital skills and service improvements, and think creatively to help shape the future of business support.
